Favicon Generator
Turn one image into a full favicon package: favicon.ico, PNG sizes, Apple touch icon, Android icons, web manifest and HTML tags.
Processed locally in your browser. Your file is not uploaded.
What this tool does
Upload a logo or icon and get everything a modern website needs in one go: favicon-16x16.png, favicon-32x32.png, favicon-48x48.png, a real multi-size favicon.ico, a 180x180 apple-touch-icon.png, the 192x192 and 512x512 Android Chrome icons, a ready-to-paste site.webmanifest and the matching HTML link tags.
You can add padding, choose a square, rounded or circular shape, and fill the background with a colour or keep it transparent. Each size is rendered with a step-down resize (halving repeatedly before the final draw), which keeps small icons much crisper than a single big downscale. Every size has its own preview and download button, and the ZIP bundles all files together with a snippet.txt that explains where to put them.
The ICO file is assembled in your browser with embedded PNG images for 16, 32 and 48 pixels, the format all current browsers and Windows read. Nothing is uploaded: the image is decoded and drawn on a canvas on your device.
How to use it
- 1Add a PNG, SVG, JPG or WebP image. A square image of 512x512 px or larger gives the best results.
- 2Pick a shape, padding and background (transparent or a solid colour). Watch the previews update at every size.
- 3Enter your app name and theme colour for the web manifest.
- 4Download single files, or take the whole ZIP.
- 5Copy the files to your site root and paste the HTML snippet into the <head> of your pages.
Supported formats
Input: PNG, SVG, JPG/JPEG and WebP. Output: PNG, ICO (16/32/48 px), site.webmanifest and a text snippet, bundled as ZIP.
Privacy
This tool runs in your browser. The data you provide is processed on your device and is not sent to our servers.
Limitations
- Non-square images are fitted inside a square without stretching, so the icon will have empty bands; crop first for a better result.
- Images smaller than 512 px are upscaled for the largest icons and will look soft. SVG input stays sharp because it is rasterised at a high resolution first.
- The 16 px icon is tiny: detailed logos often need a simplified version to stay readable.
- The tool does not generate a vector favicon.svg, maskable (safe-zone) icons or Windows tile images.
FAQ
Which files do I really need?
For most sites: favicon.ico in the root, a 32x32 PNG, apple-touch-icon.png (180x180) and the Android 192/512 icons referenced by the web manifest. The package contains all of them.
Why is my favicon not updating after I replaced it?
Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Hard-refresh, clear the site data, or add a version query string such as /favicon.ico?v=2 to the link tags.
Is the ICO file a real multi-size icon?
Yes. It contains three PNG-compressed images (16, 32 and 48 px) in a standard ICO container, so each place that shows a favicon can choose the best size.
Can I use a photo or JPG?
Yes, but photos rarely work at 16 px. Logos and simple symbols with a strong silhouette look best. JPG has no transparency, so choose a background colour or accept the original image background.
